  • Art Consultant to Interior Design studios, producing murals, florals, landscapes, portraits and painted furniture as components of total design projects.
  • Produces commissioned art for clients throughout the Northern Virginia region.

2003
  • St. Louis (Missouri) Artist Guild
  • Fine Arts Exhibition of the Decatur (Georgia) Arts Festival at the Dalton Gallery, Agnes Scott College.
  • November, 2003 exhibit at Pen and Brush, Inc in New York City. The educational and not-for-profit arts organization, established in Manhattan's east village in 1894, reviewed submissions from up and down the east coast before selecting Stokes' "America's Sweetheart" in mixed glitter media.
  • Easter Seals selected Stokes as one of ten finalists in their national competition for the 2004 lily seals. Ellen painted "Giglio Red", after she discovered the wild flower during a trip through the Italian Alps in July 2003. Stokes was the only Virginia resident among the finalists.

  • 2002 - students exhibited and sold art at "Impressions of Fredericksburg", a complete Interior Design studio.
  • 2001 - Students exhibited in teen art show at the Rappahannock Regional Library (Fredericksburg, Va.). Awarded 1st and 2nd place

  • Art substitute for Essex County school system and taught private art classes.
  • Consultant to Essex County in implementing a state art grant for second grade instruction.
  • Taught winter art classes for area children sponsored by the Rappahannock River Chapter of the Virginia Museum.
